Outlook Glen India targets Rs 100-cr turnover in 3 years Neha Kaushik
NEW DELHI, Jan. 26 HOPING to garner a share of the unorganised sector in the cooking appliances segment, Glen India Ltd is targeting a turnover of Rs 100 crore by the year 2006. To this end, the company is looking to focus on the mass market by launching more products in the segment. "The organised market for cook-tops is currently about 10,000 units per month. This is expected to increase to 1.5 lakh units in the next one-and-a-half years," Mr Sunil Kapoor, Deputy General Manager, Glen India said. And hence, the company's ambitious targets. Glen's new range of cook-tops are available from Rs 2,290 to over Rs 5,000. The company is also planning to increase its number of exclusive outlets and add 10 new `Planet Glens' this year. Says Mr Kapoor, "At present, we have eight exclusive outlets, all located in the Northern region. This year, our focus will continue to be on the region, as there are still several major towns/cities where we do not have a presence." Meanwhile, to cater to this high-end of the market, the company is importing cook-tops from Italy and Germany. Apart from cook-tops, Glen also has products such as chimneys and small appliances in its portfolio. However, for the time being, the company will focus on the cook-top and chimney market, as both the segments have been witnessing very high growth.
