The Hindu Business Line : Tata Steel plans polytechnic

MUMBAI: Tata Steel has announced the setting up of a polytechnic at Jamshedpur in collaboration with Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF) of Bangalore.

The memorandum of understanding was signed on January 1. The polytechnic will be known as R D Tata Technical Education Centre and will be set up in the premises currently occupied by R D Tata High School.

The polytechnic will initially have three disciplines, Tool & Die Making, Electronics and Mechatronics. The institute will have 30 seats in each of these branches. The selection will be through a common entrance examination, which NTTF conducts on an all-India basis for admission to its institutes.

Tata Steel said this initiative has been taken up by the company to increase the employment potential of the children of its employees.
