Hughes Tele.com cuts net loss

MUMBAI: Hughes Tele.com (India) Ltd reported a net loss of Rs 21.8 crore for the quarter ending December 2002 against a net loss of Rs 37.3 crore in the year-ago period. The company has announced a 133 per cent increase in operating profit at Rs 16.3 crore for the quarter ended December 2002 against Rs 7 crore in the year-ago period.

The company said its telecom service revenues increased by 41 per cent to Rs 94.6 crore in the quarter (Rs 67.3 crore). For the nine-month period, telecom service revenues increased by 41 per cent to Rs 258.9 crore (Rs 183.3 crore). Operating profit for the nine-month period was Rs 46.7 crore (Rs 10.8 crore). Net loss for this period was Rs 80.3 crore against a net loss of Rs 104.3 crore in the year-ago period.
