BHEL bags order for steam turbine generator set

Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, Dec. 30

BHARAT Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has bagged an order for a steam turbine generator (STG) set to be installed at a co-generation power plant in a sugar factory in Karnataka.

Valued at Rs 16.1 crore, the order has been won by the company against competition from a multinational equipment supplier.

SCM Sugars Ltd (SCMSL) has placed the order on BHEL for the co-generation plant at its sugar factory, located at Kotta in district Mandya, near Bangalore.

Significantly, the plant will gainfully use bagasse, an abundantly available by-product of the sugar industry, as primary fuel for the cogeneration power plant.

The unit will be commissioned by BHEL in 14 months.
