HYDERABAD. Dec. 29

The Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (APTransco) has initiated the process of introducing customer management system (CMS) in the power distribution companies (DisComs) so as to provide better services to its customers.

The CMS will computerise all aspects of customer-related operations of the DisComs, according to Mr Dinesh Kumar, Joint Managing Director (HRD, Planning & IT) of APTransco.

Addressing a review meeting on IT initiatives in power sector, Mr Kumar said that apart from providing a monitoring mechanism to the top management, the system would help APTransco in improving its efficiency. It would address all the current needs and also the emerging requirements of DisComs. CMS was aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction.

He said that APTransco had invited tenders for the proposed software requirement for the CMS. Action had also been initiated for the introduction of electronic systems for material management, procurement and demand management.
