NEW DELHI, Dec. 24
THE Central Vigilance Commissioner, Mr P. Shankar, has advised the chief executives of public sector enterprises (PSEs) to strive to be competitive, improve performance and make profit.
Speaking at a workshop on `Corporate governance in a competitive scenario: Role of vigilance management in public enterprises' here on Tuesday, which was organised by the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (Scope) in association with the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), Mr Shankar assured the chief executives of all help in this regard .
The CVC urged the PSE chiefs to overcome vigilance fears, come out of the inertia and take proactive decisions for better performance of the undertakings. "Don't look for external alibi for not performing," he said, while noting that case statistics showed that the inhibiting effect of vigilance administration was blown out of proportion.
"Fear psychosis is without basis; just 0.24 per cent of employees come within the commission's jurisdiction ," he said.
