Cotton veterans honoured

MUMBAI: As part of its silver jubilee celebrations, the Indian Society for Cotton Improvement (ISCI) conferred honorary fellowship to five eminent persons connected with cotton research, industry and trade.

Among the recipients of award were Dr V. Santhanam, an internationally recognised authority on cotton improvement and research; Mr G.K. Sundaram, well-known industrialist from Lakshmi Mills group of Coimbatore; and Mr Ramniklal P. Shah, partner of Bhaidas Cursondas and Co and one of the senior-most cotton traders.

Renowned farm scientist Prof M. S. Swaminathan and Dr A.B. Joshi, former deputy director general of Indian Council of Agriculture Research and vice-chancellor of Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth were awarded the honorary fellowship in absentia.
