VIJAYAWADA, Dec. 23

ASHOK Leyland is launching three new models in the next three months and making an aggressive bid to enhance its share in the commercial vehicle market, Mr Rajiv Shanghvi, Executive Director, Automotive Manufacturers Private Ltd, the sole dealer for the company in Andhra Pradesh, has said.

He was speaking at a function here after one of the three models - 1612 Hino - had been launched earlier by Mr S.A.V. Prasada Rao, Deputy Transport Commissioner.

Mr Shanghvi said Automotive was the exclusive dealer not only in Andhra Pradesh, but Maharashtra and Gujarat as well. The company had launched Hino here for the first time in South India and it would hit the market soon in other centres. The response to the model was very encouraging and enough orders had been booked in Andhra Pradesh, he said.

The fuel-efficient Hino engine was being widely used by the State transport undertakings for passenger transport.
