On the IA cards are plans to operate additional flights on the Cochin-Agatti-Cochin sector and also flights between Chennai and Port Blair.

NEW DELHI, Dec. 22

HAVING trouble deciding on where in India you should head this winter? If you need help zeroing in on what is a `hot spot' for you to take a break during the Christmas and New Year season, just ask your travel agent or the officials of the three domestic airlines.

If you speak with officials of Jet Airways, they will probably tell you that Port Blair, Goa and Jodhpur could be considered. And they, like officials of other airlines, should know.

Jet Airways is seeing such a heavy demand for seats on the Chennai-Port Blair sector that it is scheduled to operate additional flights on the route on December 23, 24, 25, 27, 28, 30, 31 and also on January 2 and 6. The airline has scheduled additional flights on the Mumbai-Goa-Mumbai sector from December 20 to January 4.

Similarly, if you want to enjoy the beauty of the sand dunes of Jodhpur, then you could hop on to the larger Boeing 737 aircraft that the airline is scheduled to operate on the Mumbai-Jodhpur-Mumbai sector between December 24 and December 30 and also on January 1,2,4 and 5. The airline generally operates the smaller ATR aircraft on this sector.

Besides, Jet is to offer more seats on the Bangalore-Goa-Bangalore sector. The airline is scheduled to operate a Boeing 737 aircraft on the route instead of the existing ATR aircraft. The airline is to operate a Boeing aircraft on this route on December 24, 27, 28, 29 and also on January 2.

Furthermore, the airline plans to operate an additional flight with an ATR aircraft on the Delhi-Jaipur-Delhi sector up to January 10. The airline is already offering more seats on the Delhi-Chandigarh-Delhi sector by operating a Boeing 737 aircraft instead of an ATR aircraft up to January 10.

Not to be left behind, the state-owned Indian Airlines (IA) is also planning to operate a number of additional flights to meet passenger demand during the festive season. On the cards are plans to operate additional flights on the Cochin-Agatti-Cochin sector and also flights between Chennai and Port Blair.

It also plans to operate two charter flights on the Cochin-Agatti-Cochin sector on December 23 and 25.

To meet the demand of the people of the eastern part of the country, IA has already started an additional flight on the Kolkata-Port Blair-Kolkata sector. Besides, the airline is to operate an additional 17 flights from Kolkata, including 13 flights to Port Blair alone and three to Aizawl up to January 15. IA also plans to operate flights on the Mumbai-Goa-Mumbai sector on December 29, 31, and on January 2 and 4.

Officials of Air Sahara also said that the airline planned to operate additional flights from various cities to Goa during the festive season.

However, a word of caution. If you plan to fly to any of these destinations during the winter, then jump from the chair and run to the nearest airline booking office or get on to the phone to your travel agent the minute you decide. For, these seats are going like hot jilebis.
