Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, Dec. 20

TO cope with the increasing demand for advanced colour picture tubes (CPT), the Rs 1,100-crore Samtel Group, has decided to exit from its colour monitors business.

The company's board at a meeting held today has taken the decision to close down the Pondicherry unit of the multimedia division of the company, which has been manufacturing and marketing computer monitors. It has also announced its decision to dispose off certain idle assets of the company, which have been retired from active use subject to the approval of the shareholders through postal ballot.

The company had taken the decision earlier to focus on its core areas.
