NEW DELHI, Dec. 18 SOUTH Korean conglomerate LG Electronics has announced the launch of its code division multiple access (CDMA) mobile handsets for the domestic market, which will be available through the limited mobility service providers. The company has budgeted an amount of $5 million to promote these handsets. To begin with, the company has launched three CDMA handset models on 3G1x platform - DM 160 a basic tier model, R30 and RD7130 handsets targeted at the premium segment. According to Mr J.G. Ham, Vice-President - Overseas marketing, LGE, the company has already planned intensive mainline, on-the-ground and below the line marketing activities to build and promote the LG CDMA brand in the country. ``India is a key market for LG and being the largest CDMA player in the world we hope to repeat the same success story here. We hope to achieve the number one position in the CDMA handset market,'' he said. He noted that LGE has been chosen as the major CDMA terminal supplier for Reliance Infocomm. This is in addition to the 6-lakh terminals that have already been supplied to MTNL, BSNL and Tata Teleservices.
