Nalco not a natural asset co, says Baijal
Our Bureau
NEW DELHI, Dec. 13
THE process of disinvestment in National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco) need not have to wait till the Ministries of Disinvestment and Finance frame guidelines for sell-off in natural asset PSUs as a section within the Government feels that Nalco is not a natural asset company.
"Nalco does not come under the definition of natural asset companies such as Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd (KIOCL), National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (NMDC) and Oil & Natural gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC)," Mr Pradip Baijal, Secretary, Ministry of Disinvestment said at the sidelines of a function in FICCI here on Friday. Mr Baijal, however, said that this issue would require deliberations before a final view was taken on the matter.
Speaking to presspersons, the Secretary said that the stalled due diligence process in Nalco would re-start within a reasonable time frame.
