Advani calls for synergy to tap tourism potential

NEW DELHI, Dec. 12
THE Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Mr L.K. Advani, has called for greater synergy between the public and private sectors to tap the tremendous opportunities that exist in the domestic tourism sector.
Inaugurating an international conference on `Aviation and tourism: Strategy in changing environment' here on Wednesday, Mr Advani said that tourism had acquired enormous economic significance in the last few decades.
The conference had been organised by the Foundation for Aviation and Sustainable Tourism (FAST).
Mr Advani also called for more private sector participation in the tourism sector in the country.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister for Civil Aviation, Mr Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, while outlining the Government initiatives in the sector, said that a project was being implemented jointly by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for developing indigenous capabilities to provide satellite-based navigation system.
