Shipping Drill in Mangalore port Our Bureau
MANGALORE: An `emergency drill' in the oil terminal area of New Mangalore Port was conducted on the concluding day of the `Chemical Disaster Prevention Week' from December 4-11. According to a release by the New Mangalore Port Deputy Conservator, the `scenario' was a fire on board an oil tanker MT Kuching at Berth No 10. The drill is said to have been witnessed by several senior officials of Dakshina Kannada district including the Deputy Commissioner, Mr A.K. Monnappa, who also happens to be the Chairman of the District Crisis Group.
