Stock Markets Markets - Stock Markets Sensex falls 37 Our Bureau
MUMBAi, Dec. 9 UNCERTAINTY over the timing of disinvestment of the PSUs, HPCL and BPCL, dampened the sentiment in stocks today. The 30-share benchmark sensitive index of the BSE, Sensex, closed lower by 36 points at 3,269.31 after some volatility in the last 45 minutes of trading. The S&P CNX Nifty of the NSE dropped by 12 points to close at 1058. Stock prices which opened firmly in the morning , started losing ground after the Divestment Minister, Mr Arun Shourie's statement in the Lok Sabha, which did not announce any time-frame in which the oil PSUs will be divested. Stocks of public sector units, especially BPCL and Nalco were mainly affected. There was not any change in the stock price of HPCL.
