Pact on reopening cashew factories

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Representatives of a consortium of banks in the State have agreed to resume working capital payout to a number of cashew factories being run by Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation and the Kerala State Cashew Workers' Apex Industrial Cooperative Society (Capex).

This was decided at a meeting of the consortium bankers convened by the Industries Minister, Mr P.K. Kunhalikkutty, an official spokesman said. The Minister has since issued a directive to the Managing Director of the corporation to reopen the factories.

Apart from the Minister, the bipartite meeting was also attended by the Secretary (Industries), Mr Ajay Kumar, the Chairman of Cashew Development Corporation, Mr K. Gopinath, the Capex Chairman, Prof Balachandran, and the Managing Directors, Mr Gunavardhan and Mr George Mathai Tharakan.
