Putiram pleads for Hanuman?

A. Roy Chowdhury

The mythological Ravana wants to kill Hanuman in Lanka but is prevented by commoner Putiram Bagchi, the central character of a Bengali drama `Puti Ramayan' staged at the 5th National Drama Festival in Hyderabad on Thursday evening. Putiram pleads mercy for Hanuman, stating that he just could not be killed before he went through an `enquiry committee'. The play lampoons present-day circumstances where the offender generally goes scot-free.
