HYDERABAD, Nov. 28
THE Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) here and the Cardiff School of Biosciences, UK, have decided to collaborate in stem cell research, bioinformatics and transgenic studies.
A major initiative planned is to use the `visualisation suite' of Cardiff School to better understand the basics of systems biology. Cardiff's involvement with the Wales Gene Park would also give access to the strong genetics community for joint ventures.
The two partners signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the ongoing silver jubilee celebrations of the CCMB here. According to Prof. Martin Evans, Director, Cardiff School, "the agreement would provide an important platform to develop exciting joint projects in modern biology".
The CCMB recently established a national facility for transgenic and gene knock-out to undertake animal genetics research. Further, it has DNA chip facility and focussed research groups working on molecular genetics and stem cells and their role in finding cures to diseases, according to Dr Lalji Singh, its Director.
