E.G. Subrahmanyan's skill in creating portraits on granite slabs has won him a lot of attention. He works out of the backroom of Akshaya, a granite outlet in Kochi, and says that he has had no formal training in art. A portrait on a one-foot slab costs Rs 3,000.
