Air cargo agents' meet in Colombo

Our Bureau

CHENNAI, Nov. 12

THE annual convention of the Air Cargo Agents Association of India (ACAAI) will be held in Colombo from November 16 to 19.

The theme of the convention will be ``Airline forwarder synergy - Market mandate'' and it recognises that a service product is only as strong as its weakest link and the key players must complement their role.

The background paper said that despite an uneven monsoon, the demand curve is north-bound and the growth prospects look reasonably optimistic. Indian exports in the last six months have been marked by a double-digit rise which may not be a sharp growth on the low performing 2001 base but could well be a sign of better things in 2003.

The concern of the air cargo industry has been the gross mismatch between the demand and availability of cargo space.

Mr Ravi Karunanayake, Minster of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Sri Lanka, will inaugurate the convention and Mr Sunil Arora, Chairman and Managing Director, Indian Airlines, will deliver the keynote address.
