Beta Empire group launches `Date King'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Nov. 12

PACE Hitech Pvt Ltd, a division of the Beta Empire group owned by the kin of late biscuit tycoon Mr Rajan Pillai, has launched its `Date King' brand of dates products in the domestic market.

At a function here, Mr Rajmohan Pillai, Chairman of Beta Empire group and younger brother of Mr Rajan Pillai, said freshly plucked dates would be imported from the Gulf, which would be processed and packed at the modern facilities owned by the company in Nagercoil in neighbouring Tamil Nadu.

More than 85 per cent of the world's production dates is grown in the Gulf region. Devoid totally of LDL cholesterol, the natural fruit sugar content in dates combined with its rich nutrient content makes it a safe and nourishing snack, according to Mr S. N. Nayar, Managing Director, Pace Hitech.

By timing the launch of the product to coincide with the Holy Ramadan month, the company was positioning `Date King' as the snack of choice at Iftar fuctions. The launch was attended by Mr Abdul Shukoor Moulavi of the Juma Masjid here.

Beta Foods Pvt Ltd is involved in marketing and distribution of products either manufactured or processed by the Beta Group or products that have been handed over to it for distribution.

The company already manufactures and processes value-added nuts, snacks and soft drinks under the brand names `Nut King' and `Ole''. According to Mr Nayar, high quality standards are maintained for the products through continuous in-process inspection and product testing by a well-qualified and experienced professional team. The company has over thirty modern processing facilities employing over four thousand workers.
