BANGALORE: Child is the victim of the elders' demeanours. So says a report prepared by the Forum for Creche and Childcare Services (FORCE) on the dismal functioning of Anganwadi schemes in the State.

While blaming the lack of community participation and coordination between the Anganwadi workers, the community and the Government as the main obstacle, FORCE also brought to light inadequate facilities and poor condition of buildings allotted for the Anganwadi schemes which prevented the main objective of providing good meals to the child beneficiaries from the poor families.

Anganwadi workers, whose main responsibility was to cook and serve food to children, are made to run around to get building sanctioned or mobilise resources for getting a centre. According to the Government, the resources for such activities had to be marshalled from the community.
