Nod for highway linking Piravom

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government has endorsed the construction of a new State Highway between Ettumanur and Perumpavoor via Kaduthuruthi, Piravom and Ramamangalam.

This was decided at a meeting on road development attended by the Public Works Minister, Dr M.K. Muneer, and the Irrigation Minister, Mr T. M. Jacob, who represents the Piravom Legislative Constituency in the State Assembly.

The New Delhi-based Sir Owen Williams Investment Ltd has been assigned with the task of preparing a comprehensive project report on the proposed two-lane State Highway. According to the Additional Chief Secretary, Mr Babu Jacob, who was also present at the meeting, contract for the work will be entered into with the consultant company in two weeks' time.

The Ettumanur-Perumpavoor State Highway will cut down distance from Kottayam to the Cochin International Airport in Nedumbasseri by 21 kms.
