M&M institutes award for auto design

MUMBAI, Nov. 8

MAHINDRA & Mahindra Ltd (M&M) today announced the K.C. Mahindra Award for excellence in automotive design.

"The award is open to students of engineering and design from all engineering colleges and polytechnics across India. A theme for the design will be announced each year. Each team can have a minimum of two students and a maximum of four.

"The team will be required to submit a conceptual paper design of a car meeting the thematic and technical specifications. A panel of renowned automotive professionals, critics, consultants, technologists and academicians will judge the designs,'' an official statement said.

Quoting Mr Anand Mahindra, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, M&M, it said, "Our recent experience with the Scorpio has proved that the Indian consumer wants and appreciates world class design. Even more important, the Scorpio design was developed in-house.
