Bio-tech & Genetics Knowledge gap on transgenic tech regretted Our Bureau
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Nov. 7 RENOWNED agricultural scientist, Dr M.S. Swaminathan, has said the pace of progress in the evolution of transgenic technologies is proving to be much faster than the evolution of societal understanding of their implications. Raman Memorial Lecture on `Science, and shaping India's food and livelihood security systems' organised here jointly by the Swadeshi Science Movement and the Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (CTCRI). ``This is why I have been pleading for a broad-based National Commission on Genetic Modification for Food Security with representation from various fora,'' he said.
