Electrolux to go for CFC-free fridges — Unveils new designer range

HYDERABAD, Nov. 3

ELECTROLUX Kelvinator Ltd (EKL), the merged entity of Electrolux India, Intron and Electrolux Kelvinator, has decided to convert its entire range of refrigerators to chlorofluoro carbon (CFC) free as part of the ongoing restructuring and consolidation process for manufacturing facilities, models and brands and also keeping in view the new norms on CFC products.

The company currently retails its products under three major brands - Electrolux Kelvinator, the integration of its two flagship brands, Electrolux and Allwyn.

Addressing presspersons on the eve of launching new range of refrigerators under the brand Electrolux Kelvinator, the EKL Assistant General Manager (Marketing), Mr Ramesh Thondapi, said the company has decided to convert its entire range of fridges to CFC-free from next month.

As per the World Trade Organisation (WTO) norms, the sale of CFC products would not be allowed post-December 31, 2002.

According to him, the company would market its premium and imported range of home appliances under the Electrolux brand. The products include top of the line refrigerators, air conditioners, dishwashers, cooking ranges, microwave ovens and front-loading washing machines.

Products under Electrolux Kelvinator would focus on providing value and ergonomically superior appliances to customers, while products under Allwyn brand would cater to the low-end segment of the market with customers seeking value for money, he said.

The new range of refrigerators unveiled include New Electrolux Kelvinator 325 litre frost-free, New Allwyn Platina in two ranges - Platina Infinity and Platina Eternity, New Durocool, Supercool Aquaflow and Limited Edition series.

"The introduction of these new products will enable our consumers to choose from a wide variety and range of refrigerators. We also expect this new range to enable the company emerge as the market leader in India," Mr Ramesh said.
