Aquaculture Corporate - New Projects Godrej Agrovet shrimp feed unit in Chennai Our Bureau
CHENNAI, Oct. 31 GODREJ Agrovet Ltd has set up a shrimp feed manufacturing facility at Chennai in technical collaboration with Tai Aqua of Taiwan, according to a press release from the company. The collaboration, apart from manufacturing technology, is in areas of feed formulation and technical service to farmers. The company has released semi intensive feed brand Kahochi for farms that stock more than 15 shrimps per square metre, and Hoshu and Fuso for modified extensive and extensive stocking which involve lesser numbers. The collaboration has helped Tai Aqua to improve its volumes and the new plant has a capacity to manufacture 2000 tonnes per month. It plans to export shrimp feeds during the current financial year to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The company plans to set up diagnostic laboratories in the shrimp farming areas and commence shrimp exports. During the current year, it is targeting a turnover of Rs 400 crore compared to Rs 340 crore last year.
