MADURAI: The trade circles here have welcomed the withdrawal of the levy of sales tax on rice.

In a statement here, the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TNCC & I) has said that since the imposition of sales tax on rice in the State Budget this year, trade and industry and several other sectors of the society had been clamouring for its withdrawal. The Chamber is grateful to Chief Minister for having acceded to this demand.
