NEW DELHI, Oct. 29

IT's a cola squabble once again. Coca-Cola India (CCI) today claimed a 30 per cent volume growth in the quarter ended September 30, 2002 for its carbonated soft drinks sales, compared to the same period last year.

Sales grew by 26 per cent in the previous quarter ended June 30, 2002. Its brands: Coca-Cola, Thums Up, Limca, Fanta, Sprite and Maaza have reportedly maintained their leadership positions in their respective segments. However, Ms Vibha Rishi, Director, Marketing, Pepsi India, says Pepsi's brands are market leaders in the cola, orange and clear lemon categories. "Among carbonated soft drinks, they are ahead of us only in the cloudy lemon segment with their Limca brand,'' she said.

Quoting ORG-MARG's retail sales audit, a press release states that Kinley, has a market share of 36.6 per cent.
