Telecommunications Idea Cellular offers national roaming facility Our Bureau
HYDERABAD, Oct. 24 IDEA Cellular ltd, on Thursday launched a national roaming facility on ChitChat its pre-paid card in Andhra Pradesh. This will facilitate subscribers to stay in touch through incoming calls and incoming SMS in locations across the country where Idea Cellular provides this service through tie-up with other cellular operators. The Vice-President, Idea Cellular, Mr Subbaraman Iyer, said, "we believe that the benefit of national roaming on Idea ChitChat will further reinforce the prepaid product. It caters to a large subscriber base on pre-paid who have the need for roaming but cannot opt for a post-paid connection." "With national roaming free part from pre-activated STD and ISD facility and roaming airtime rates as low as Rs 1.49, Idea ChitChat is the most economical way of going cellular. To our existing subscribers, national roaming will be enabled at no cost and we are proud to be the fist operator to be offering this to our subscribers in the State," he said. With this facility, the reinforced Idea Chitchat offers national roaming through the superior IN (intelligent network) technology, which enables the subscriber to roam on the same card using the same number across India and enables them to receive calls and SMS messages while they visit other roaming locations. The company maintained that this is targeted at the existing and prospective subscribers who travel across the country and prefer to stay connected to their family, friends and business on a cost effective option. The starter pack comes for Rs 199 and was available in over 8,000 outlets across the State.
