It's placement time at IIM-B

BANGALORE, Oct. 21

COME October and it is summer placement time at the Indian Institutes of Management. In the initial round, at IIM, Bangalore, this year, the batch of 2004 students are taking their pick from companies such as ICICI, National Kidney Foundation - Singapore, Lehman Brothers, GE Capital, Colgate Palmolive, HSBC, Citibank and Standard Chartered Bank.

According to Mr Ganesh Prabhu, Chairman, Placements, IIM, Bangalore, "About 15 companies have made 60 offers already, but the students are yet to decide which ones to take up.''

The first round of placements was held on October 5 and 6. This year for the first time, the National Kidney Foundation of Singapore has made eight offers. Others are: ICICI - eight offers, Wipro - nine offers which have all been accepted, GE Caps - four offers, HSBC - five offers, Citibank and Standard Chartered Bank - seven offers each.

Apart from Wipro, other IT companies such as Tata Elxsi and Tata Consultancy Services have also made offers to the students.
