PLANNING a holiday this winter? Malaysia may be an exciting destination. A three-nights/four-day package for Rs 17,000 per person, say the promoters, seems like a major attractive holiday opportunity.

In a first of its kind in the tourism industry, three stakeholders — Tourism Malaysia, the official agency with the mandate to promote Malaysia, Sri Lanka Airlines, the official carrier of Sri Lanka and Jet Air Tours, a large tour operator in India — have combined their basic strengths to create a fabulous opportunity for outbound tourists from India.

In a two-month which commenced on October 15, the consortium is offering return economy class fare to Kuala Lumpur for three nights/four days, inclusive of breakfast, in a four-star hotel, or two nights/three days at the picturesque Genting Highlands, just 90 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur. The package includes return airport transport and one night at Colombo.

The package is being catered out of four cities, Mumbai and Delhi with five flights a week each, Bangalore with four flights a week and Chennai with 11 flights a week. All ground handling and booking is being managed by Jet Tours.

According to P. Manoharan, Director, Tourism Malaysia, the mandate is to promote Malaysia as a destination and make it one of the most sought after holiday spots in the Far East. The strategic alliance with Sri Lanka Airlines and Jet Tours, he said, is to leverage the combined advantages and create an optimally priced holiday package for India.
