New Projects Exide arm to make switch mode rectifiers for telecom sector Our Bureau
KOLKATA, Oct. 10 CALDYNE Automatics Ltd, a subsidiary of Exide Industries Ltd, has decided to manufacture switch mode rectifiers (SMR) for telecom application. Mr S.K. Mukherjee, Managing Director of the company,told this to presspersons on Thursday at the formal inauguration of the company's new plant here. The project, which would cost around Rs 4.5 crore, will manufacture complete power supply systems as per the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) specification. Caldyne has signed a technical collaboration agreement with Infinity E V Motors, (a subsidiary of Infinity Motors of the US) for the SMR project. Mr Mukherjee said the company also planned to manufacture integrated power supply systems providing DC power solutions for the railway sector. He added that the Indian Railways hadearmarked Rs 1,500 crore for its track and traffic safety systems where Caldyne's integrated power system would have a key role to play. Caldyne's power supply system caters to the requirements of DC power source for power generating, distribution and transmission companies. Its power supply systems are at work in Kaiga and Rajasthan atomic power plants. It has also supplied the power system to Nathpa Jhakri and Tehri hydel power projects.
