Ad hoc bonus for Central staff

Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, Oct. 9

THE Centre has gone ahead and granted ad hoc bonus to its employees, even as it expected to take a final view along with States on the proposed freeze on dearness allowance to Central Government employees later this month.

The cost of the ad hoc bonus extended to non-gazetted employees is around Rs 200 crore and has already been factored in the budget, officials said.

Departmental undertakings too have followed suit with the Railways, postal department and BSNL extending the productivity-linked incentives to its employees. The objective of the proposed move to freeze bonus is to ease the fiscal burden of both the States and the Centre.
