Advertising Procter & Gamble chief at ISA helm Our Bureau
CHENNAI, Oct. 9 MR Bharat V. Patel, Chairman, Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Ltd, has been elected as the Chairman of the Indian Society of Advertisers (ISA). Founded in 1952, ISA is the country's apex body of advertisers and its membership of over 200 Indian and MNCs include companies such as Asian Paints, Britannia, HLL, Nestle, P&G, Citibank, Coca-Cola among others. Its membership accounted for two-thirds of all advertising expenditure incurred in the country in 2001. On being elected, Mr Patel said that for the past five decades, the ISA had played a leading role in formulating guidelines and standards to raise the ethical and economic discipline of the advertising industry. "I hope to further strengthen its sphere of influence beyond advertising and marketing," he added. He takes over from Mr J.C. Chopra, Senior Advisor, Tata Consultancy Services, who has been the Chairman since 1993. Mr Chopra will continue to be a member of the executive council of the ISA.
