The Hindu Business Line : Draft of patent rules notified

THE Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) has notified a draft of the patent rules which have been published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary, Part II, Section III, Sub-Section (ii) dated September 20, 2002, according to an official release.

The notification containing the said rules is available on sale with the Department of Publications and is also on the Web site www.ipindia.nic.in, the release added.

The draft has been published with a view to consolidate patents rules and also to make provisions required consequent to the amendment to the Patent Act 1970 by the Patent (Amendment) Act, 2002. The draft rules have been published with a view to informing all persons likely to be affected thereby and to invite suggestions/comments, which will be taken into consideration before finalisation and notification.

The normal period for furnishing suggestions/comments being 30 days, the last date for receipt will be November 5.
