The Council has for the first time planned to hold a `Powerloom Mela' this month in which major powerloom manufacturers from major production centres across the country would participate with their range of powerloom-based textile goods. The `mela' will be held at Chennai from Oct.22 to 27 and it is intended to target dometic market, especially those who opt for the `Deepavali' purchases, PDEXCIL sources said. Textile products sarees, dhotis, children-wear, garments and home-furnishings produced by the powerloom weaving centres in Tamil Nadu, Andhra and Maharashtra would be available for sale.
