CRPF plans to build flyover on NH 47

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Sept. 24

THE Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), which has a Group Centre spread out on both sides of the National Highway 47 at nearby Pallipuram, will construct a flyover at the accident-prone Pallipuram Junction at a cost of Rs 3.85 crore.

Announcing this, Mr M.C. Joseph, Additional DIG of Police, CRPF Group Centre, said that work on the flyover will commence after getting approval from the National Highway authorities

He was speaking at a function to commemorate the 28th Raising Day celebrations at the centre.

CRPF will also acquire 15 acres of land worth Rs 25 crore at Pallipuram for initiating developmental activities.According to Mr Joseph, a new battalion comprising 1,400 constables will be raised in December this year.

According to him, CRPF has contributed its mite to ensure drinking water to the Pallipuram area. A Recruit Training Centre of the CRPF is fast coming up at Peringam in Kannur, he added.

Free bus passes to medal winners: Speaking at the function, the chief guest, the State Transport Minister, Mr K.B. Ganesh Kumar, announced that Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) would provide free bus passes to all CRPF personnel who are recipients of the President's Medal for Meritorious Service.

"CRPF is a unique force which can be depended upon in times of crises. It has been doing a commendable job in preserving the unity and integrity of the country."

Mr Varkala Radhakrishnan, who represents the area in Parliament and is a Member of the Parliament Finance Committee, assured that he would do his best in getting the Centre's support for CRPF's developmental activities.
