Ashok Leyland August sales up

CHENNAI, Sept. 12

ASHOK Leyland Ltd sold 2,618 vehicles in August, as against 2,480 in the same month of last year - a growth of 5.5 per cent.

In the first five months of the current year, the company's sales rose 13.88 per cent. It sold 12,538 vehicles in April-August, as against 11,009 in the same period last year.

Both domestic and export sales were up. In the domestic market, Ashok Leyland sold 11,735 vehicles this year till August, as against 10,405 in the same period last year - a growth of 12.78 per cent.

Exports were up at 803 vehicles, as against 604 in April-August last year, according to a press release from the company.
