NEW DELHI, Sept. 12

DOMESTIC express major Blue Dart has forged a five-year sales alliance with DHL Worldwide Express, after the company decided against renewing its existing contract with FedEx, which expires on September 30. The new alliance will be effective from October 1.

"The existing contract with FedEx was up for renewal when it expires on September 30. Blue Dart had the choice of either renewing its alliance with FedEx or looking for better alternatives. We decided to choose DHL,'' Mr Clyde Cooper, Managing Director, Blue Dart, said without divulging the details of the sales alliance with DHL.

"With the added benefits of DHL's global infrastructure, wider geographical reach and greater network flexibility, the DHL advantage will provide Blue Dart customers benefits and services superior to other offerings in the Indian market,'' Mr Cooper said.

"The sales alliance between two major players is specially designed to provide Blue Dart customers the DHL advantages of size, reach, flexibility and infrastructure,'' Mr Bryan Jamison, Area Director, DHL Worldwide Express, said at a press conference here to announce the alliance.

Mr Cooper said the alliance enabled Blue Dart to provide unmatched service levels to its customers to any part of the world.

The alliance of these two strong players from October 1 would enhance Blue Dart's customer satisfaction and enable Indian exporters to compete with their competitors in the export market globally, Mr Jamison said.
