Booklet on cotton trade

Our Bureau

MUMBAI, Sept. 12

THE Mumbai-based East India Cotton Association (EICA), which represents the interests of the country's cotton trade, has brought out `Indian Cotton Annual 2000-01', a publication that contains detailed information on production, processing, marketing and related aspects of the cotton sector.

Estimate of cotton area, production and yield; State-wise and variety-wise cotton pressing in the country; data on purchases by the Maharashtra Government under monopoly raw cotton procurement scheme; and statistics relating to foreign cotton are some of the highlights of the book.

Central and State legislations that impact the trade, sales tax rates applicable to cotton in various States and data on Cotton Corporation of India's working also feature in the publication.

In addition, prices, imports, exports, stocks, pressing data etc go to enrich the book, which is an excellent reference volume not only for the cotton trade but also for all those associated with the sector.
