BANGALORE, Sept. 6
THE fourth Jewels of India expo will be held in Bangalore from September 13 to 17.
Considered the largest domestic jewellery show, the exhibition will showcase a range of craft by 70 jewellers such as Kundan and Meenakari from Jaipur, handcrafted work from Kolkata and the South Indian ethnic forms. The event is supported by the World Gold Council (WGC) and is organised by Expoworld.
A collection of Thewa, the Mogul art of 23 carat gold fused on gold, will be launched during this year along with display and sale of `South Sea pearls' from Mumbai, according to Expoworld Convener, Mr Sandeep Bekal. Apart from the Rupa Vohra Thewa designer collection, Bhuramal Rajmal Surana, will be there too.
The WGC Regional Manager, Mr K. Shivram, said, "By extending our support to Jewels of India, we ... lend it credibility (and) also use it as a forum for enhancing awareness on genuine jewellery."
According to Mr Bekal, the expo would offer attractive prizes on a lucky draw, apart from a treasure hunt.
