Telecommunications Marketing - Branding Spice branding value-added services Our Bureau
BANGALORE, Sept. 5 SPICE Telecom's Karnataka circle has gone one step ahead in differentiation. It has started branding its value-added services under the name, Genie. Over the last two years, mobile providers have strengthened their focus on value-added services (which includes information on railways, train timing, movie tickets, astrology, news, cricket updates, stock quotes and so on). With all service providers offering a similar basket, Spice decided to brand its services, said Mr Madhukar Parthasarathy, Manager, Enhanced Services. "A survey showed that customers were not aware of value-added services that we provided," he said. The company has launched a series of advertisements where the Genie talks of a different service that Spice offers its subscribers. Spice has a dedicated team to look into value-added services. It has classified them into voice services, SMS services and Web-based Services. The voice services include a live astrologer who offers advice to customers, city taxi services 24-hours-a-day, plumbing, electrical repair services and so on. SMS services include news, stock updates and cricket information
