Citibank appoints new CEO for subcontinent

MUMBAI, Sept. 2

CITIBANK on Monday announced that Mr Sanjay Nayar would take over as CEO and Business Head of Citibank's integrated operations in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.

Mr Nayar will take over on October 1 from Mr Nanoo G. Pamnani, the current CEO (India) and Regional Head (Sri Lanka, Bangladesh & Nepal).

Mr Nayar is at present Managing Director and Area Head (India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh & Nepal), Global Corporate and Investment Bank, said a press release.

He joined the bank in India in 1985 and moved to London as head of the EM Equities Business in 1994. Two years later, he moved to New York as head of Fixed Income Investor Business and then was appointed as Managing Director with the SSB Fixed Income Group.

Over the past 11 months, Mr Nayar directed initiatives across the corporate, treasury and capital market activities as well as further institutionalising the SME strategy.

Mr Pamnani will continue with Citibank as its Chairman in a non-executive capacity.
