ISPs Corporate - Outlook Vebtel forays into IP telephony; to invest Rs 5 cr Our Bureau
HYDERABAD, Aug. 29 VEBTEL Obconic Internet Protocol, a Hyderabad-based firm, has announced its foray into the emerging Internet telephony market and has launched a range of solutions and products to support voice over Internet phone (VoIP) technologies even for corporate houses and call centre business. The Managing Director, Mr S. Kusumba, told newspersons here that Vebtel Obconic promoted by the co-founder of Dr Reddy's Labs, Mr M.P. Chary, has teamed up with three ITSPs (Internet telephony service providers) and is in the process of entering into strategic alliances with some more to reach its solutions across the country and tap the markets in countries such as Mauritius and Bangladesh. The company has thus far deployed about Rs 2 crore and plans to invest Rs 5 crore by the year-end to broaden its products and solutions offerings to 24 centres and corporates and call centre businesses. "We expect to garner revenues of Rs 35 crore in the first year of operations", Mr Kusumba said. The company has partnered with Amber Online Services in Andhra Pradesh, Karuturi Networks in Karnataka and InTechnet Ltd in Tamil Nadu. Discussions are under way to enter into agreements with other service providers. The company services and products include Internet telephony cards made available in range of denominations from Rs 50 onwards to Rs 5,000, a software that can be used for call centres available as a free download, a device named Vebtel Supertalk that takes the place of a conventional personal computer, and other devices that allow video Internet telephony call from Vebtel video IP phone, Mr Kusumba said detailing the company plans to offer these products in the Indian market.
