Anti-dumping Dumping duty on citric acid K.R.Srivats
NEW DELHI, Aug. 27 THE Finance Ministry has imposed provisional anti-dumping duty on all imports of citric acid from Thailand and Indonesia. Citric acid is a basic chemical that is used as a preservative in food, soft drinks, confectionery, drugs, in textile dyeing and printing industry. It also has industrial applications and is used in boiler cleaning. Based on the recommendations of the designated authority in its preliminary findings, the Revenue Department has now imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty of $456.67 per tonne on all exporters/producers of citric acid from Indonesia. In the case of all exporters/producers of citric acid from Thailand, the Revenue Department has imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty of $ 374.36 per tonne. The petition seeking anti-dumping investigations on citric acid imports from Thailand and Indonesia had been filed by Citurgia Biochemicals Ltd.
