Events Students urged to develop skills in entrepreneurship Our Bureau
COIMBATORE, Aug. 27 THE Secretary to the Union Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Mr S.K. Tripathi, conceded that jobs were hard to come by these days and called upon the engineering students to build up entrepreneurial skills or take up academics as profession. Delivering the Valedictory address at Futura 2002 a national technical symposium held by the Bannari Amman Institute of Technology (BAIT) at Sathyamangalam near Erode, he hailed the students endeavour in participating in such events and said that the expectations of both the industry and the job applicant has changed over the years. He called upon the students to prepare to face the future. Mr Tripathi said leadership, teamwork, net working, market orientation, achievement motive and constant learning were some of the important qualities that the student should possess to sustain and survive in a global competitive arena. Futura 2002 was the third event in the series conducted by BAIT. According to BAIT sources, the response was very good. Student participants presented papers on a wide range of papers from intelligent measuring systems, systems that would purify effluents, renewable energy, micro-electro mechanical systems, industrial automation, electricity produced by means of fuel cell technology, digital controls, data communication systems, global positioning systems for trauma care, medical imaging, cryptography and biometrics to enterprise resource planning for textiles.
