Netravati Bank outlines credit schemes for SSIs

MANGALORE, Aug. 27

NETRAVATI Grameena Bank conducted a one-day workshop on credit and subsidy schemes for small entrepreneurs here on Tuesday.

The objective of the workshop was to provide information on various credit and subsidy schemes being implemented to enable the establishment of small-scale industries.

Officials and experts from the Khadi and Village Industries Board, the District Industries Centre, Nabard and other banks briefed the participants on issues related to subsidies, credit and other facilities available for prospective entrepreneurs

The Bank has launched a scheme for financing agri-clinics and agri-business centres set up by graduates in agricultural sciences.

According to the Bank, the scheme aims at financing units to supplement the existing extension network to accelerate the process of technology transfer to agriculture and providing supplementary sources of input supply and services for which farmers, by and large, presently depend on state agencies.

The agri-clinics are meant to provide expert services and advice to farmers on cropping practices, technology dissimulation, crop protection, market trends and price-related information apart from clinical services for `animal health' to enhance productivity.

Moreover, agri-business centres are envisaged to provide inputs, farm equipment on hire, and other services. The centres will also provide a package of soil and input testing facilities and other consultancy services.

The facilities would include soil and water quality and input testing laboratories, pest surveillance and diagnostic services, seed processing units, assistance in micro-propagation through plant tissue culture laboratories, provision of livestock health cover, setting up of veterinary dispensaries, setting up of information technology kiosks in rural areas for access to various agriculture-related portals, and retail marketing outlets for processed agri-products among others.
