Ferguson report: ICAI seeks details from members

Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, Aug. 21

THE Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has asked for information about the controversial A.F. Ferguson report in the Tata Finance matter from its member chartered accountants who are also associated with it.

"We have asked for the details from all the members who are associated with the TFL case. This action has been initiated by the institute suo moto,'' Mr Ashok Chandak, President, ICAI, told reporters here today.

Explaining further, he said the institute was only concerned with two aspects - - whether there had been violation of any ethical standards and whether there had been gross negligence on adoption of accounting norms.

It may be recalled that ICAI had sought the assistance of the Department of Company Affairs (DCA) in examining the existence of any case for enquiry of alleged professional misconduct by A.F. Ferguson in the TFL case.
