Announcements BHEL bags Indonesia thermal plant order Our Bureau
NEW DELHI, Aug. 10 BHARAT Heavy Electricals Ltd, the public sector power equipment major, has bagged the first-ever contract for a coal-based thermal power plant in Indonesia. With this, the company claims to have achieved a major breakthrough in the South-East Asian market, having set up hydel and gas turbine -based power plants in the region earlier. The order, valued at Rs 50 crore, has been won by BHEL against stiff competition from leading international players. The contract for supplying the main equipment for a captive power plant has been placed on BHEL by PT Indo Bharata Rayon (PTIBR), an Indonesian venture belonging to the Aditya Birla group. BHEL's scope of work include manufacture and supply of two steam turbine generators of 10 MW each with auxiliaries and matching fluidised bed combustion (FBC) boilers of 75 tonnes per hour (tph) capacity each., electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) and new generation MAX 2000 plus distribution controls and instrumentation system.
